Summary: Time had never been their problem, it was always about space. Like the space between them that grew too large until his affections shifted irrevocably. Then it wasn’t about anything anymore.

Author's Notes: Dudes, I love Leah, wholly and unabashedly. She's the most tragic figure ever and gets the worst rap in the whole series. She's painted by a gossip-happy Edward and a mourning Jacob to be evil, but neither of these character depictions is given to us by a narrator with a clear, un-biased mind. The idea of female werewolves as better trackers/heightened senses of smells is stolen from "Bitten" by Kelly Armstrong which beats the pants off Twilight (except in the love-triangle-angst-of-d00m department) and everyone should READ IT.

Note: This turned out WAY more vampire and Edward-sympathetic than I was expecting (since I'm Team Werewolf) and I hope it's shippy enough for infiniteskies & three_nails, who love Jacob/Bella. This is for them!

Note 1: If you are an Edward/Bella shipper, I will not try to convert you. In fact, I’m sure there are Jacob fans that love Jake, but still ship Edward/Bella. I am not even trying to convince you to love Jacob like I do. I am merely explaining the reasons behind my love so that more people can UNDERSTAND. You don’t have to share my viewpoint, but it would make debates/discussions/polls easier if everyone at least understood the motives behind the opposing opinion. And hey, perhaps a few of you will go from ‘hating’ Jacob to realising that even if you don’t ship him, you can still LIKE him or his character. Stephanie Meyer even said that fans don’t have to feel either/or, they can like Edward AND Jacob! Jacob is just a troubled teen with ‘a furry little problem’.

Note 2: This was mostly written before I read Eclipse and was then revised to fit in with the new book. There are spoilers for Eclipse within and there probably will be in comments. Also, please remember that I wrote the first draft in a pre-Eclipse frame of mind, so I implore you not to bring any Eclipse-prejudices into your reading of this essay. I have tried to be as fair and balanced as possible BUT since this is a very personal essay, this is all my own opinion. I insert myself into this essay and tell you how *I* feel about the text. If this bothers you, you’d do better off not reading.

Note 3: Despite editing this…it is still a couple pages long so I decided to split it into two parts. My apologies for being long-winded and I take no offence if anyone decides to skip it. However, if you do manage to read the whole thing, I would appreciate a comment, as this took a lot of time and I’m curious about other people’s thoughts. Thanks.
