Title: A Crumpled Message Under Broken Glass and Sand

You have a whole beach to walk down together, after all. )

Title: The Mechanics of a Smile
Author: lily_268
Pairing: KAYLEE (Kaylee/Simon, Kaylee/OMC)
Rating: PG13
Summary: He began to split into someone new everyday until there weren't any letters left to label all the shades of Simon.
Spoilers: BDM
Word Count: 900
Author's Notes: I really hope I didn't go overboard with the accent. I've never written Kaylee before and I tried to sound it all out in my head and read it aloud, but I never know how much a reader wants of the voice to be left in and how much they can add on their own. Concrit is appreciated.

His new cut-and-dry diagnoses grated on her skin and when they docked, there were matching scratches on the hull. )

Title: justification: or why ninety-three percent of the world deserves to die
Author: lily_268
Pairing/Character: ADAM MONROE (Adam/OCs)
Rating: R
Summary: Too bad he stopped believing in God centuries ago; around the time he witnessed a trusted friend and his lover embrace under falling petals.
Spoilers: to the end of S2 and using the graphic novel 'The Ten Brides of Takezo Kensei' so reading that might be a plus.
Word Count: 5,000
Author's Notes 1: I had to fudge timelines slightly to make this all fit and even then, it is an exhaustive task trying to write 400 frickin’ years of a character.
Author's Notes 2: Ideas expressed are of the character, not of the author. I was just trying to understand how Adam would want to kill almost everyone in the world and figured that 1) seeing a lot of disgusting things over four centuries would colour your view of humanity and 2) Social Darwinism would probably seem appealing to someone who was aware of a genetic mutation that privileged certain individuals over others. So, this is basically "immortality SUCKS" with a little dash of "humans suck" on the side. Enjoy!

he discovers that some things are more painful than re-growing your spine: memories of a starving officer sharing his last can of rations, mementos of last words promised to relay to a wife, the silence just before the artillery guns start up or the simple feeling of being genuinely scared for the first time in decades. )

Title: Honor Thy Mother and Father
Author: lily_268
Pairing: MARIAN
Rating: PG13
Summary:She picks at the loose thread that's unraveling. Slowly, the stitches that hold together the leather encasing her fingers falls away, allowing the slightest of drafts.
Spoilers: set VERY pre-S1 (like, Marian's childhood to when she's a teenager, exploring what growing up without a mother was like in the Dark Ages)
Word Count: 2,000
Author's Notes: written for [livejournal.com profile] anythingbutgrey's birthday. Robin's a bit of a cheeky bastard here, he hasn't yet learned how to charm the ladies and this is un-beta'd, so it probably stinks. But I can't read it through another time or I will start seeing spots. Hope you like it!

She clutches it between her fingers when she's scared and spends whole afternoons tracing the outline of the Holy Mother, hoping that this somehow made the serene-looking woman her mother too. )
